MY BALCONY

A sense of vertigo sets in as I step out of my room onto my balcony. A 60+ story residential building (Signature Tower) is scheduled to go up in 2007 in the large parking lot seen at the corner of 5th and Church. The Ryman Auditorium can be seen on the right hand side of the picture.

IF HEAVEN WAS A PIE

I reached behind my back to pull out a ring and propose. I was so nervous, not for the proposal, but for the kiss that was scripted afterward.

MEXICO BEACH, FL

Arms extended, I welcomed my niece back from the sky, but kept her from the water. She was a little scared of getting wet. I was a little scared of stingrays and jellyfish.

I woke up in a hospital. My head and ribs hurt. Two nurses looked at each other, exchanged words in Chinese and left the room. I started to cry.
